Woodstar

Time To Bleed

Label: Regal Release Date: 29/04/2002

gdobson by Gareth Dobson April 30th, 2002

“Quick!”, said the people at Regal, “There simply aren’t enough gentle acoustic strumalongabands in the UK at the moment, lets sign up every single acoustic act that don’t have a deal yet.”

“Ok_”, said Regal employee number one, “We’ll start with Alfie *and *Woodstar, cos they sound a bit like the Beta Band, but y’know, not quite as good._”

“Actually,”, countered Regal employee number two, “Woodstar **have got their own softly lulling fuzzy charm, and I would compare them to a less maudlin **Mazzy Star, rather than the eclectic beatmeisteryness of the Beta’s.”

“Fair play,” said Regal employee three. “_I actually think their new EP is actually rather magnificent, especially second track _‘Sorry Skin’.”

DiS, meanwhile, looking through their magic record company ball, observe this and nod sagely. “It is good, and it does sound rather excellently ethereal.”, it muses, “Gentle and fragile, DiS murmurs. heritage!”
