DiS Tip: Hey Sholay are coming your way (if you live in the UK)
sean by Sean Adams September 22nd, 2011

With a debut album brewing for 2012, DiS would like to bring to your attention of the finest new bands in the UK (and, as you may have noticed, with the exception of Stay+, EMA and a few others, it's rare we waste your time with brand new bands these days).

They hail from Sheffield, where you may have seen them on the DiS stage at Tramlines this year or at one of their first gigs, opening up our Rollerdisco 10th Anniversary party last year. Or perhaps you caught them at our afterhours shindig at Great Escape (which I can personally attest went straight into my favourite live shows on the year top 5 and is yet to be bumped out!). Or maybe you saw them supporting Dry The River or Clay Your Hands Say Yeah? No, oh. Ok, perhaps not seen them and don't know why they are. In which case, press play on their recent single, which has something kind of 'oooh' that skitters along like a dragonfly until the psych' ending to 'The Bears...':

Dreamboat / The Bears, The Clocks, The Bees by Hey Sholay

Anyhoo, that's them. I like them. DiS' Dom Gourlay likes them too. Some of our other writers have nodded approvingly an' all. They are Hey Sholay! (exclamation is optional) and as of tonight they're crawling out of the studio and taking their show on thee road with Crystal Antlers and some other fine acts, and we suggest you maybe go see them (or turn up early if you're already going, likes). And if you don't make it, we'll be reminding you to do so again before too long.

22 Sept - University, Plymouth (w/Crystal Antlers)
23 Sept - University, Gloucestershire (w/Crystal Antlers)
24 Sept - Mad Ferret, Preston (w/ Lets Buy Happiness)
26 Sept - LMSU, Leeds (w/ Cloud Boat)
27 Sept - The Croft, Bristol (w/Crystal Antlers)
28 Sept - University, Swansea (w/Crystal Antlers)
29 Sept - Birmingham College, Birmingham (w/Crystal Antlers)
30 Sept - KCLSU, London (w/Crystal Antlers)
03 Oct - Port Mahon, Oxford (w/ My Other Life)
05 Oct - AlterEgo, Bristol (w/ My Other Life)
06 Oct - The Castle, Manchester (w/ Cave Painting)
08 Oct - The Bridge Hotel, Newcastle (w My Other Life)
11 Oct - Borderline, London (w/ The Crookes)
21st Oct - Stone Roses, York

For further info and the occasional flurry of mutterings about music and films they like, follow them on Facebook and/or Twitter.
