ATP lets festival attendees choose its line-up
Mike_Diver by Mike Diver November 17th, 2006

Weekend Two of next spring's All Tomorrow's Parties festival - held as it is next month at Butlins in Minehead - is to be co-curated by the fans, those actually buying the tickets.

This is good, yes? Yes!

The three-day event - from May 18 to May 20 - already features a handful of confirmed acts, including Sparklehorse, Echo And The Bunnymen, The Notwist, Do Make Say Think and Built To Spill.

More information about this frankly great idea is available at the ATP website, here, where tickets can be purchased and the line-up for the first, Dirty Three-curated weekend (April 27-29) can be viewed, but here's a quick summary from the organisers' mouths...

For Weekend 2 of ATP 2007, we have cooked up something a little bit special for you. All Tomorrow’s Parties would like to announce ATP vs The Fans. ATP will be curating half the line-up and the rest of the line-up is up to you, The Fans. Each person who buys a ticket to the festival will be asked to submit their top ten wish-list of who they would like to see at ATP.

Here’s how it works...
When you buy your tickets, you will be given details of a website. The person who actually buys the tickets will log into a page where they will be able to email out voting forms to each person in their apartment.
Each person then needs to use that form to submit their top ten bands.
Each week, the received votes will be tallied and listed on atpfestival.com in order of popularity. ATP will then start asking bands from the top of the list, down. Please note that this means the earlier you vote the more your vote will mean.

VOTING BEGINS NEXT FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 24th.

ATP stress that any votes for The Rolling Stones or Bob Dylan are probably worthless as their budget is only so big, and that it's still impossible to raise the dead, so no Nirvana requests. Also, the band/s that come top of the list must obviously want to play.

Anyone found cheating will be disqualified. This means YOU, people going to ATP who are in bands!

More information at the ATP website.
