"Comedy Central in the US has commissioned thirteen
new episodes of Matt Groening's 'Futurama', the wonderful animation series
which was, of course, axed by the Fox Network three years ago. All the
original team are expected to reprise their roles on the show. The bad news
is that the new shows won't air until 2008. And then Channel 4 will probably
buy the UK rights and air them at 8.30am on a Saturday morning. Ah well,
still good news over all though. Comedy Central Senior VP David Bernath told
reporters this weekend: "We are thrilled that Matt Groening and 20th Century
Fox Television have decided to produce new episodes of Futurama and that
Comedy Central will be the first to air them"."
