Wrightylew's X Men Thread

wrightylew [Edit] [Delete] 12:55, 2 June '06

I saw it last night and I don't think it was as bad as the DiS Massif made it out to be.

But GOD was it underwhelming? I don't know what makes the director think he has the right to kill off two of the biggest characters in the whole universe. It seemed like you were waiting for some big appearance from Professor X towards the end. But he and Cyclops just disappeared. Without explanation or conclusion, they just vanish, with no trace...

I got the impression the director just wanted to have as many special effects sequences as possible, with as little storyline and character development as possible. What the fuck was Angel all about? He said about three words all the way through, and nothing happened to him.

I think the large redeeming factor of the film was the battle at the end. Although it was messy, it was very entertaining.

The thing is... as an ex-Marvel lover, I was pretty disappointed with a couple of things - no-one asks Beast why he's blue. The sentinel was part of a simulation. And why didn't Xavier recognise Juggernaut? And why was there no explanation to anything about Phoenix? I also wanted much, much more on Collossus... he was just... there.

So in conclusion, the fights were superb, and the effects were. However, the film just didn't develop at all.
