The C Word

and no, i don't mean cunt.

Recently i've heard a lot of insults (and not just on DiS in defence of The Arctic Monkeys, but in national newspapers and in conversation) of people accusing others for being "middle class". i wouldn't be offended - i try not to worry so much as to what bracket i fall into when it comes to this sort of hierachy - but i was just wondering why this was.
i know this is hardly a new thing, and that a general baiting of people for their backgrounds is hardly a fad of the insult world, but is it really justified that class is still a major fascination in British society? And are the middle classes most targeted for the idea that they are 'priveleged' or 'snobbish' or what?

DiSguzzle.
