i just had a canvasser for the local labour party come round, assumed it was prole forgetting his keys and opened the door in my dressing gown with 'this is hardcore' by pulp blaring out of the stereo. then of course i felt that i had to have a long conversation about local politics/hard-to-reach groups/iraq/council democracy/etc.

i feel ashamed. what should i have done? i'm thinking not stood at the door in my dressing gown making an obviously embarrassed man talk to me for half an hour.
