So we can get a passport and our details will be put into the national ID database, but we don't have to have the cards. Oh fucking nice one. Thanks. Cos of course it was the card itself that we all objected to, wasn't it? After all, they look like they might be quite heavy, and no one wants another stupid photo of themselves in their wallet, do they?

What we needed Joe Public to understand was that it was the database that was the fucking problem! Everything you've ever done registered on one big computer housed in Tony Blair's private mountain. Excellent, just what we want. On top of the fact that by the time you die there will be more CCTV footage of your existance than there will actually be hours you've spent alive. Brilliant. We might not be able to live free anymore but at least our lives will be well documented.

The next step will be CCTV in all our homes. After all, if we've nothing to hide how could we possibly object?
