Ghey/gay/libel

restlessboy [Edit] [Delete] 10:20, 3 March '06

I read that some footballer is sue-ing a newspaper for saying he had gay sex with some chap or other. And I've just been looking at the ghey/gay controversy in the misty's big adventure thread

http://www.drownedinsound.com/content/view/670078

And it got me thinking. Why can someone sue for being called gay? As if this in some way defames their character? Would this footballer be quite so arsed (lol) if there were false allegations of him shagging three nubile young women in a jacuzzi or something. But no, the moment 'the cock' enters into it (lol) it's suddenly unacceptable.

It shows a lot about people's attitudes to homosexualism that people still feel they have to stand up and prove themselves if they're falsely accused of being gay. Why is it even an 'accusation'?

Fuck, why is it even INTERESTING?

Football's the closest a lot of straight men come to being gay anyway...
