Artic Monkeys 'Not invited' to Awards ceremonies

prole-art-threat [Edit] [Delete] 12:56, 6 February '06

Ok a 'bit of politics' now as Ben Elton-John used to say or whatever, but in the Observer yesterday (yes, yes, I'm as bad as the people I lampoon) there was a patience testing feature on 'who' had been invited to 'which' award aftershow party and which was the coolest to be seen at. Very pointedly and the end of two drivelgraphs on the Brit Awards it said "The Artic Monkeys have not been invited".

This got me thinking. Was this a) a pointed dig at the last few weeks overkill on the 'best new group since Franz Ferdinand' B) a pointed dig at next year they will be predictably nominated for 45 awards or C) if the rumours of Alex James (or whatever his name is - its Turner, isn't it?) and the rest of them just being pretty boys with a svengali behind them were true, could it be unmasked at a drunken bash?

Just a debating point as I think their singles have been 'ok' but believe that there are 'bones' on some of the things I hear
