radical reinvention

nice_squirrel [Edit] [Delete] 20:56, 30 January '06

Through the magic of Myspace (and a tip-off from my mum), I've discovered an old schoolfriend. However, I'm having a bit of a dilemma as to whether to get in touch with him, and if so, what I should say.

See, the thing is, he's changed A LOT since I last saw him. Between the ages of 21 and 24, he seems to have gone from being a clean, neat, short-haired man with innocuous dress sense and a liking for Radiohead, to a COCK ROCK MONSTER. Seriously. He now sports leather trousers, a black mullet, his band seem to be influenced by Motley Crue without a hint of irony, and all of his MySpace friends are pierced, dyed, tattoed and busty metal girls.

He's a really nice guy, and we knew each other pretty well at school. But I'm a bit scared that he might have sworn allegiance to RAWK and won't think he has anything in common with me any more.

Have any of your friends gone through such a radical reinvention? Was it weird talking to them again? And if I get in touch, what should my first message say?
