the value of someone's life

commandercool [Edit] [Delete] 14:10, 16 January '06

okay so this probably isn't that interesting but it's been going around in my head for a few days now and i'm no nearer to finding a conclusion.

do you think it's possible to place a worth on a human's life. i'm talking about a value, not monetary or any equatable with any other type of physical thing, but a value that would allow you say "person x's life is more precious than person y's"?
if so, which criteria would you use? how happy they were? the impact that they had on others (friends, partner, strangers..)? the amount that they contributed to a certain society?

i'm sorry if this is really boring, it's just something i've been thinking about a lot recently and would like to hear about other people's views.
