Weekly music player thread

Well it wouldn't be the same without one would it?

So here's the thing. I am a poor man in my mid-20s trying to scrape enough money together to replace my battered minidisc player so I can listen to the latest pop smashes in the hit parade.

I only want a small-size player (1gb) or so for listening to when walking to work/visiting friends etc. Ideally it would be the Creative Zen Nano, but as I have a Mac this plan is scuppered as it only supports Windows. The iPod Shuffle looks nice, but it doesn't have a screen and I can't be bothered with skipping hundreds of tracks before I find what I'm looking for.

So my thoughts have turned to the 4GB iPod Mini, which is still pretty cheap and has a screen. Question is, does it work with a USB 1 port (which I have) or does it have to be 2.0? (which I don't have). I have FireWire, but I don't think it supports it. Please help me.

Yours confused connectionally,

Colonol_K
