Subthread: are there any total BS facts that people share that just aren't true?
eg. Everyone in Manchester, tour guides included, say The Midland Hotel was Hitler's favourite building and he was going to make it his UK HQ and that's why it wasn't bombed, but I'm pretty sure every city and every guide in the UK has said this about a building in their own city at some point too.
