I know these threads have happened before, but this one has a specific slant on it. I have two questions really, for people in bands (all of you iirc).

1) What sounds/specific bands are you trying to ape currently in your musical projects?
2) What gear do you have to replicate these sounds?

I'm a massive n00b when it comes to this stuff but I want to make music in the future. I'm hoping this will be nerdy and educational.
