The Scunthorpe Problem

brusma [Edit] [Delete] 14:09, 18 February '16

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scunthorpe_problem

hardly new, but this is one of my favourite kind of things of the internet era. going through the wiki page is nearly a chuckle-a-minute! so funny!

a few favourites:

"n July 2008, Dr. Herman I. Libshitz was initially unable to get the e-mail address he wanted from Verizon because it contained the substring shit"

"In February 2003, members of Parliament at the British House of Commons found that a new spam filter...blocked e-mails sent in Welsh because it did not recognise the language."

"In May 2006, Ray Kennedy from Manchester in the UK found that e-mails that he had written to his local council to complain about a planning application had been blocked as they contained the word erection when referring to a structure."

let's all talk about rude words in non rude words and how profanity censorship is shit
