I've just been told that I am going to have to start hot desking in the near future. I'm horrified at the prospect, mostly because I've been told that I won't be allowed any space to store personal items (including work stuff like notepads).

Does anyone here hot desk? Is it as bad as I imagine? Do you just turn up in the morning and walk around until you've found an empty desk or is there an advance plan? Do the permanent inhabitees of the desks get pissy at you for sitting there when they're away?
