Has this been done?

Noticed more and more female friends on Facebook are now ambassadors/reps for these firms (and others). Looks to be like it basically involves constantly hassling your friends into buying products that you get a percentage of.

Seems a bit crap to treat your friends as potential customers, rather than just friends. What do people thing about this? Also the business models just look like pyramid schemes.

Or is this an example of the patriarchy looking down on self-employed and entrepreneurial businesswomen?

Are Herbalife and Juice Plus similar? If so, stick them in the pile as well.
