When was the last time you tried to do something nice for somebody and it went hilariously wrong?

A friend of mine is going through a rough time so I thought I'd cheer him up by making him some hot sauce and mix CDs and writing him a letter. Sent it in the mail yesterday. He opened it this morning and the hot sauce had leaked everywhere so when he opened the package it dripped out all over the place. Letter ineligible, CD liner notes fucked, hot sauce looking decidedly less than appetising. Basically all I did to cheer him up is mess up his floor.
