Question about One Direction, Justin Bieber, people from TOWIE/Made in Chelsea etc

A_Hamburg_Deep_Seed [Edit] [Delete] 08:30, 6 November '15

Just wondered.

It's about self awareness.

I know this is one of my typical loaded and vague concepts but I just wonder, about those A-list "mainstream" types often blamed as the enemy (note lower case, lollylops), do they go about their daily business say, concerned about what "alternative", "good taste", "real music" type people (some of whom use DIS) say about them on social media or in the press? It would be fascinating for a psychologist to get into Harry Styles or Simon Cowell's head and see how aware they are of their many foes and how they manage to cope and maintain their success in the face of such hatred (some would be relieved this expose could indirectly give confidence to the 'good' musicians/celebrities/politicians to clearly align their allies and enemies.) I mean, do the Vamps or Union J look in the mirror and genuinely think "We're actually really good at music?" I know it's a bit old Fart to have a go at manufactured boy/girl bands but I can't see it myself. Maybe there used to be a bit of that self awareness when the press was less fragmented and artists got the message they were doing harm, for example Wet Wet Wet pulling Love Is All Around from sale after 13 odd weeks on the charts because they got word of it annoying people. You could also draw thinly veiled topical lines from this to politicians being accused of "being out of touch with what the ordinary British people really want".
