After saving for a wedding for the past 20 months I would now like to piss some money against the wall. What better way than to buy an overpriced games console that I'll rarely use!

What does the DiS hivemind say about the current gen? My gaming history is thus:

Spectrum ZX
Mega Drive
Playstation
Playstation 2
Xbox
Xbox 360

Is there any difference between the new 2? I've always been pretty made up with my 360 so would it make more sense to stick with Microsoft? I'm a fairly eclectic gamer and will play games what are good rather than persisting with CoD/Assassin's Creed every year.
