Meeting in London today with one of my main accounts which I am currently in the process of handing over to my colleague - let's call her Becky.

I like Becky; 3 or 4 years younger than me, sits opposite me at work and we have very similar characters, share a sense of humour and generally have the same outlook on life and work. If she was single I would have put money on us getting together, but she just got married last October so that's a no-go.

Accompanying us to this partner meeting was our boss - we'll call her Michelle. Michelle I also like: she's late 30s, I have a lot of respect for her abilities and happy with the way she manages me. We get on fine outside of work and often have a laugh about her hubby and his eccentric ways. So all good really.

Myself and Becky were due to meet Michelle at Starbucks at Victoria at 11am for a quick catch-up before the meeting. I arrived a few minutes early and was the first one there, so I had a quick look downstairs for a seat before deciding to try upstairs. Rather than climb all the way to the top I went up enough steps to get my eyes to floor level to enable me to peer round for a vacant table. I noted a guy in the corner asleep with his head on the table, a couple of women kissing in the other corner, and then a table of beardy hipsters having a cup of whatever the current cutting edge beverage is.

It was only after a few moments that my brain processed something I'd missed: the two women kissing at the corner table were Becky and Michelle.
