i work with a nice bunch of 'thoroughly' middle class people and one lady was saying her son has never read a book. he's about 10
then a guy said he didn't read a book until he was 17.
1. how do you learn to read without ever reading a book?
2. is this a badge of honour now?
3. i thought they would be into reading so this is just too weird for me.

they said kids spend too much time on their phones and i said maybe they're talking to someone more interesting. i said it as a joke though but it got ignored. but maybe they're just talking to someone more interesting??
