Popular misconceptions that amuse you, really get on your tits or ones that

you almost can't be bothered to post on DiS about.

I listened to a podcast by Stuff You Should Know last night and found it pretty infuriating. It was about animal camouflage and was a classic case of perpetuating this misconception that natural selection is some kind of conscious thing. As if the creatures are deliberately adapting new colouring to give themselves an edge. I nearly smashed the whole house up in my rage.

Less annoying, more amusing, is when I hear some well-meaning twat say that people who are lacking in one sense (blindness, deafness etc) often have a heightened sense to make up for it. Bless.
