What are peoples opinions on him as a writer?

Bought a couple of his shorter novels and really loved them...then picked up two or three of his more lengthier books in charity shops and have found them really boring dad shit.

Jury's out for me. Probably stuff you're meant to read around the time you're going to uni and wearing berets, idk.

Think Russian literature's pretty overrated, tbh.
