Common misconceptions / misinterpretations which get your goat

MartinClunes [Edit] [Delete] 08:58, 14 August '14

Every time I go to a coffee shop, I ask for a cafe latte. Translated as milk coffee. In the past two years, I am either met with a quizzical response, get a soya latte, or asked to repeat my order. When the barista finally understands my order, it results in me being wrongly corrected.

"You mean a latte?"

No I do not mean a latte, I do not want a glass of milk, I would like a cafe latte. Though despite my attempts to educate, the barista ends up looking mildly scared as though they'd rather the "awkward" customer just go away rather than listen to the words I am actually saying.

Ruins my day it does, leaves me feeling as though it's just not worth carrying on.

Are there any common misconceptions or misinterpretations that disproportionately rankle you?
