In praise of the 80s/90s family blockbuster

colon_closed_bracket [Edit] [Delete] 08:39, 12 August '14

I was thinking about this the other day, and the sad news about Robin Williams reminded me: have we lost the family blockbuster forever? I realise that its place has largely been taken by animation (Toy Story, Shrek, Frozen etc) but I'm wondering if we'll ever see a modern day equivalent of Mrs Doubtfire, Back To The Future or even a Sister Act*

Anyway, here's a thread in praise of the family blockbuster.

*you can argue whether these films were actually shit and it's just nostalgia kicking in.
