So this DRIP legislation then

I think there was already a thread on the rushed nature of the reading but does anyone think there could actually be a legitimate reason for forcing companies to store telecommunications data relating to millions of citizens inside the UK given the fallible nature of online security.

As an aside it's quite interesting that the SNP, SDLP and Plaid Cymru all voted unanimously against the legislation. More fuel for the referendum perhaps?
