World cup day two thread: Enter the Aztecs

Steved [Edit] [Delete] 08:27, 13 June '14

After 13 man Brazil wobbled past a reasonable looking Croatia team the tournament proper kicks off as El Tri take their bow against Cameroon. Mexico have assembled their traditional squad of European League supporting characters (Hernandez, Guardado), a smattering of players who have never left Mexico, players who have been around for literal ever (Marquez, Salcido) and former Zapsta favourite Giovani Dos Santos. They face Cameroon, who barely made it onto the plane but probably fancy themselves a bit now that Croatia have dropped points.

After that we merficfully bid farewell to what's left of ITV's coverage shack for a bit for Spain v Netherlands, a hopefully less violent replay of the 2010 final, which will likely be dominated by Guy Mowbray making about a million references to Louis van Gaal being the incoming United(!) manager. Then it's Chile v Australia, which could be a lot of fun after seeing just how much of the Australia squad is made up of A-League players.

WORLD CUP!
