'The Spirit Of The Game' v Winning

NoahVale [Edit] [Delete] 11:14, 4 June '14

In light of the controversial dismissal in yesterday’s cricket.

Cricket is one of those games where, on the one hand, there seems to have been an eroding of the traditional Spirit Of The Game, yet on the other there can be some fine displays of sportsmanship. Golf always struck me as a good example of a sport that upholds scrupulous values of sportsmanship to the point where a player will call 'cheat' on himself even though he might have gained no advantage and no-one would have been the wiser if he'd kept schtum.

But all's fair in love, war, and winning in sporting contests - yeah?

So: What’s fair? What’s not? Which sports demonstrate finest sporting values? And which are worst...? Who are the most sporting sportsmen? Who are the biggest cheats?
