A convicted murderer has moved in with Richard Linklater

hip_young_gunslinger [Edit] [Delete] 15:27, 9 May '14

In 1997, Bernie Tiede, a well-liked funeral home worker, shot an elderly woman who he had befriended and started working for in the head, before hiding her in a chest freezer and covering it up, spending her money on local good causes. When he was eventually caught, the local town was in uproar, because they liked Bernie so much, and the woman he killed was apparently so horrible.

The story became the subject of amazing magazine piece by Skip Hollandsworth in Texas Monthly:

Which became the basis for a really surprisingly enjoyable and weird film directed by Richard Linklater and starring Jack Black:

Now, the real Bernie has been released from prison early... and part of his bail requirements is that he lives with Linklater:

Honestly one of the weirdest stories I think I've ever come across, but I encourage you to read the article and watch the film (which features real members of the town rather than actors).
