insurance and claim moratoriums

justanothersheeldz [Edit] [Delete] 10:16, 30 April '14

i have a private healthcare policy as one of my company benefits. upon calling for the first time with a sore hip it appears they have a moratorium on claims from when a policy starts. now, there is a dispute about when mine started (i've had the benefit for years, but they renewed it this year, which appears to have reset it, oops)

BUT

How does that work? you start a policy on the 1st april, and you suffer an injury on the 3rd, and you can't claim despite paying for it? wierd. doesn't seem very fair.

my hip hurts. :(
