I have a theory about computers I've been thinking about

moker [Edit] [Delete] 12:40, 14 April '14

In the future, humanity will end up worshipping technology as a religion. This idea was nicked from Warhammer 40k but I really think it’s going to happen. http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Cult_Mechanicus

The internet and web already connects most things together – Most phones and PCs and tablets look into this one cloud / machine with zero downtime and processing power that’s doubling in size and efficiency every two years.
Soon, it’ll connect to everything. All things done electronically will feed into the internet one way or another. It will begin to have an all seeing eye. A hive mind that is part us and part machine – not in a Terminator Skynet way, but in a very real, integrated way. One day, this technology will have the power of something almost Godlike – It’ll know everything that’s happening, it’ll know everyone. It’ll be able to use information to piece together in milliseconds accurate predictions. It’ll be able to learn on its own. It’ll become a form of deity.

And one day, this technological God could solve world problems, cure illnesses, provide man with solutions. It will literally offer eternal life through healing and health solutions. It’ll know more than anyone has ever known or could know in the history of the world. It’ll be a literal technological God.

I think it’ll become a spiritual guide, the giant hive mind of humanity operating at a level far greater than we can even imagine now. In hundreds of years, this technology won’t be a metaphorical replacement for God, it will be God.

You get me?
