Recommend me a book (new-ish modern fiction)

GayGuevara [Edit] [Delete] 15:43, 26 March '14

I've just finished Morrissey's autobiography and i'm looking for a new book. I've got endless Game of Thrones to get through (or ASOIAF, if you will) but I fancy a break from that.

I'm fairly open on type of book, but nothing too 'heavy' or 'real' - you know, stuff about broken homes, child abuse and all that kind of stuff.

Two that look quite interesting are 'Burial Rites' by Hannah Kent: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Burial-Rites-Hannah-Kent-ebook/dp/B00CBWRYAY/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1395848351&sr=1-1&keywords=burial+rites

and

'Paris' by Edward Rutherford: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Paris-Edward-Rutherfurd-ebook/dp/B00AFAYGTG/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1395848429&sr=1-1&keywords=edward+rutherford

Anyone read either of these? Any other suggestions?

I don't really keep too up to speed with these things...
