do celebrities have a 'right' to ask for privacy?

fffeargol [Edit] [Delete] 22:35, 25 March '14

sorry to post another thread so soon, however Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin have just announced their split on an online blog and asked that they have privacy during this time while they separate and carry on parenting their two children.

Some people say it's hypocritical to ask for privacy on a blog and instead they should have said nothing if they wanted privacy.

Thoughts? Do celebrities have the right to ask to have a private life after they've 'chosen' this career and thus should perhaps expect to have their privacy invaded?
