Jonathan Trott / Michael Vaughan (CRICKET)

colon_closed_bracket [Edit] [Delete] 12:19, 17 March '14

So:
- Trott gives an interview explaining his reasons for leaving the Ashes tour http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/26578722
- Vaughan says that he felt conned by the interview: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/26608075 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/cricket/international/england/10701664/Jonathan-Trott-must-accept-team-mates-and-opponents-will-feel-he-did-a-runner.html

I can understand how a dressing room might feel, but I can't help but feeling that Vaughan is being a little unfair on Trott. For one, stress and depression are two different illnesses, both with the power to be utterly debilitating. Secondly, stress is likely to have as much impact on a player's form (if not more so) than a physical injury. I can't imagine him feeling "conned" by Joe Root for having a broken thumb.

I might have missed something here, but my initial impression is that I think this is a bit harsh of Vaughan. Of course, the column was in the Telegraph, so it could all just be trolling.
