Middle classes LIKE paying 40p tax rate because they feel they are joining the aspirational classes and are a success.

Those that are new to the middle classes might like the sense of status it brings, but if paying less tax were an option i'm quite sure a lot of them would be happy to give it up. Regardless of how true it is, a rather silly thing for Gids to say politically.

I know this only affects a few of us on here, but thought it might be of interest.
