Taking kids out of school in termtime

nice_squirrel [Edit] [Delete] 13:49, 11 March '14

I don't have kids, I just heard about people being fined for taking their kids out of school in termtime and thought it was interesting: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-26517395 I guess it counts as truancy really, so I can see why they're doing it.

What do you think about it? Did your parents ever take you on holiday in term time? Do/would you take your kids on holiday in termtime? I wouldn't have ever considered doing it, because I'm a massive swot who follows the rules.

The only reason I can see for doing it is if you had to go to a funeral or a family wedding abroad or something which is fair enough. I remember a couple of kids at my school who would do it quite regularly, they were always the sort of people who went on holiday to Florida or Australia or somewhere (as opposed to my family's camping holidays in France) so I guess their parents were doing it to save money?
