After our storming performance last year, we have been invited back for the 12th edition of the WV-HEDW International Fraternization Tournament.

This is the trophy we won: http://i.imgur.com/Se3abrJ.jpg and all we have to do this year is bring back a bigger one.

In the words of the organisers: "the intention of the tournament is quite simple: To let people from all over Europe have a good time, take a beer (or two), have a talk, and meet each other as friends. We preferably invite teams from the very lowest football divisions in their respective countries. So please no ‘all-star’ teams, but teams with a slight or rather explicit preference for the famous Third Half. So, if you have some minor injured, severely crippled, 50+, and/or even debuting players in your team, don’t worry – your opponents probably will have too. Besides this, as for the more ‘educated’ players in your team, you might be able to exercise your international sports languages a bit during the tournament, too. Because Schwalbe, catenaccio, lateral passing, and tunneling – you name it, we might have it...."

The format is pretty much the same as before: 3 matches on Saturday afternoon from 12 PM, followed by 3 matches on Sunday, so I’d expect our travel arrangements will be similar compared to last year: fly out on Friday evening, and return on Sunday evening. The tournament fee is € 175 per team, or about £10 to £12 per player, and this comes again with the free barbeque on Saturday evening. Costs for flights and accommodation are to be determined, but last year we spent about £195 each on this. The sooner we book, the cheaper it’ll be, obviously. And we'll probably need another set of shirts, so budget some cash for that as well. The rest of your pocket money can be spent on refreshments (http://www.belushis.com/__data/assets/image/0005/281363/274294-Belushis-Amsterdam-JAGER-BOMBS-Poster-1.jpg) on Friday and Saturday evening. It really benefits your penalty technique.

Note that if you have a ticket for either Primavera Porto or Field Day, you can't play, because those festivals take place on the same weekend.

Amsterdam veterans such as fishplums, JuxtaposedJames, meths, Henrik, umlaut_ampersand, Royter-Hatfood, oenso, lozpawley and ohgood have already provisionally put their name down, and here is your chance to add your name to this illustrious list. Space on the plane permitting, obviously.

Astublieft dankuwel.
