Are animals concerned about death / the futility of life?

WhiteLightWhiteCity [Edit] [Delete] 16:22, 8 August '13

Obviously all animals seem to have that flight or fight instinct in relation to perceived danger, so they're aware of harm. And I've heard that some animals like dogs can become `depressed`, like if they're neglected or not walked enough or whatever (though I don't know if that's in the same sense as for humans).

So yeah, is any animal capable of thinking `I'm going to get eaten like all my friends`, or `what is the point of all this shit?`?

Fucking hell, do any animals have any thoughts at all that aren't just about being hungry or wanting to fuck something?
