Is anyone into bees?

Elaina_Casoolare [Edit] [Delete] 12:45, 2 August '13

I've got a nest in my garden and when I googled what to do all the info is like DON'T KILL THEM THEY'RE REALLY IMPORTANT AND ENDANGERED!!!

The nest is in the ground and I don't think they're wasps so they could either bee bumble bees or honey bees.

I just phoned this local bee keeper and he said they sound like bumble bees and I should leave them as they are and pull up a chair and watch them because they're fascinating. I must say, it was quite interesting how they'd placed the cut grass over the hole really neatly, it must have taken them ages.

Anyway, bee keepers only come and collect honey bees and he said honey bees don't really nest in the ground. He said if I don't like them they'll die soon anyway.

They creep me out a bit but the Bumblebee Conservation Trust says we should condsider ourselves lucky because they aren't very common and there are people ctively trying to attract them, so they've made me feel a bit special now.
