What would you say you pay on average for a takeaway now?

Pint price spin-off thread.

Seems interesting to compare and contrast pint and pizza/kebab prices - smaller towns in the middle of nowhere tend to have cheaper pints and much more expensive post-pub scran.

I think by far the cheapest place in terms of the pint:takeaway ratio I've witnessed has to be Leeds - Loads of cheap pubs and takeaways (and a huge number of price-conscious student grants). over-saturation of bars and food spots seems to lead to a healthy price war. Drinking eight pints at a pound each and getting a large pizza for £1.50 and a can of coke makes going out of an evening on a tenner easily manageable.

A standard margherita would currently set me back £5.80, and a kebab would be £4.20 (street prices, you can expect to add a further £2 if we're taking delivery prices into account). On the contrary, I can expect to pay between £2.20 and £2.50 for an entry level pint. Anything fancy like your Kronenbourgs or your Stellas will push the £3 barrier easily.

In terms of fish and chips, I think Grimsby holds the crown - incredibly cheap and great quality product, and that's coming from somebody who lives in a coastal town with great fish and chips.

Indian - easily £20 for the works. Chinese, about a tenner.

It all levels out I think - urban areas with expensive pints tend to have a plethora of takeaways competing for custom, and vice-versa.
