How would you feel about being paid to play in a band at a family member's wedding?

Smee [Edit] [Delete] 16:43, 3 July '13

My cousin is getting married y'see, and is looking for a band. I'm putting her in touch with this wedding band that I sometimes play in, and I think she might go with them.

Now they've asked if I'll play guitar for them.

On the one hand I would feel awkward getting paid to play at my cousin's wedding, especially as I got married this year and know how expensive things can be and how much you rely on help from family and friends.

On the other hand, we're not very close, and she didn't help out with my wedding - I didn't expect her to or think she should. Plus I'm really skint, don't have much work at the moment and really rely on these very occasional but relatively well paid gigs coming in.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
