as my job gets more and more spreadsheet-nerdy, my boss has suggested sending me on a Visual Basic course so i can actually do some of the vague programme-y stuff i'm currently making an arse-over-foot job of here.

trouble is, i have this vague memory that Visual Basic is actually being phased out and irrelevant and something else is replacing it, but i'm buggered if i can remember what it is.

questions are thus: should i bother with a Visual Basic course? would my time be better spent towards training in something else that does the same thing but isn't becoming irrelevant? is Visual Basic becoming irrelevant? what's replacing it? what does it do? why do i have so many questions?
