Why is Operation Yewtree not called 'Operation Catch Famous Paedophiles'?

wrightylew [Edit] [Delete] 18:39, 13 May '13

Everyone knows what it is don't they?

So much so that people will never be able to think of yew-trees again without thinking of hideous sex monsters.

So why do police investigations have codenames like that? I understand why we had to do it in the war, Operation Sealion etc. because they were listening to the comms.

But surely paedophiles don't have a radar squadron that tries to intercept police transmissions?

Or is Yewtree an acronym?
