Football Thread (Weekend)...

forzaborza [Edit] [Delete] 02:44, 20 April '13

Gonna kick this off myself as the last couple of daily football threads have been fucking terrible...

Quite a dull-looking Saturday in the Premier League, where despite the fact that a few questions still to be answered at both ends of the table, Fulham v Arsenal probably represents the best chance of some football actually breaking out. Thankfully for the neutrals, Spurs face champions Man City on Sunday and should probably win, followed by Liverpool v Chelsea, which always tends to have a bit of an edge to it.

Given the top level moribundness, this is another weekend that's more about the Championship, really, as only the top and bottom sides have nothing to play for. Forest v Barnsley and Palace v Leicester are probably the games with most riding on them, and the Elephant Man might confirm his return to the big league.

Doncaster, Bournemouth and Brentford can each take a big step towards the Championship. MK Dons, Walsall and Leyton Orient are set to pounce on madman-less Swindon, whilst the relegation places are all but sorted.

In League Two, Port Vale, Rotherham and Burton have big games to clinch automatic promotion slots. Realistically speaking it's between Bradford and Exeter for the last play-off place, and up to eight teams are still possibly involved at the bottom.

It's the final weekend in the BSP, with Stockport, Tamworth, Gateshead and Lincoln all trying to avoid filling the final relegation spot, and Mansfield and Kidderminster both going for the title.

Overseas games of note include Valencia v Malaga, Feyenoord v Vitesse, Juve v Milan and Benfica v Sporting Lisbon.

Predictions, thoughts, bets, FF subs, shabs, any other business, etc, etc...
