After yet again berating my gf for not caring about politics and how important it was that we kept out those blooming Tory so-and-sos i was told "well why don't you get off your fat** arse and do something about it?"

but what can a man do in this day and age, of gross apathy and mass defeatism even amongst those who class themselves as politically active, to actually make a difference? Especially when it's difficult to align with any of the significant political parties. Is generally aiming towards an improvement in the discourse of your common man, through education and persuasion (berating) likely to reflect itself in the political world, even when fighting against so many other conflicting worldviews? Will the good will out? Is the liberal back rubbing and brow beating of left leaning, insular websites like this of any relevance whatsoever? What can a man do to not be powerless?
