anyone see that program on the telly last night about poor people in America?

Was a bit humbling, tbh.

One of the families wasn't even THAT poor, really, they just briefly lived in sheltered accomodation, but they failed the Playstation test of poorness. The two other families, though, man, pretty grim.

The kids in it were brilliant, though. Came away from it with two thoughts - firstly, that our ideas of what poverty means in this country are probably a lot different to those in America (or at least they receive much more support here, though i expect the Guardian readers will argue there aren't different levels of poverty, idk), and secondly that our kids are quite a bit thicker, generally. One of the kids in particular had a better vocabulary than most of the rebrobates i employ down t'mill and she must've been about eight.

A pretty good but eye-opening program anyway.
