Advertisers and their tragic attempts at viral marketing

The cereal Kellog's Krave has its own Twitter account - @kraveunleashed. I know this because they've got a paid-for promotion at the top of the 'people to follow' list

So I clicked on them, and they're verified of course (lots of Krave copyists out there) with about 4,600 followers.

Every one of their thousand or so tweets is similarly themed - mostly indicating that now might be a good time to enjoy a bowl of Krave, or asking readers to send in pictures of their bowl of Krave, or suggesting kooky ideas of games to play with individual pieces of Krave - these ideas are then fleshed out with hashtags like #nomdirection, #kravingandmisbehaving, #kravelove, #dryhardkraver, #kraverissues and so on

This sad tale is made worse by the fact that each tweet gets around 2-8 RT's maximum, so it reads like the mad scrawlings of a prisoner who's been thrown in 'the hole' for a month with no outlet other than an iPhone
