Have you ever trolled?

hip_young_gunslinger [Edit] [Delete] 10:18, 21 February '13

I guess, on the whole at least, we know who our resident trolls are here and have managed to incorporate them into the general tone of things. But have you ever been anywhere else and trolled (using this to mean 'deliberately wind people up') for any reason? Why did you do it? What did you get out of it? Is it basically just the modern equivalent of a bunch of 12-year-olds playing knock-on ginger (or whatever it was called round your way)?

Once, when the X Factor winning song was a Damian Rice cover, tweeted 'Damian Rice must be rolling in his grave'. Someone I'd never heard of replied to me saying 'Ummm, he's not dead mate. Just saw him play live awesome LOL' or similar, and for no reason I can think of, replied 'No, I'm pretty sure he's dead mate, sorry about that', and spent the next forty minutes denying all the evidence he sent my way. I knew perfectly well he wasn't dead, but the idea of this random person getting so obviously wound up by me saying something so obviously stupid was kind of appealing. It was a power trip. So maybe that's why people do it.

Trololololololololol.
